Academic Vocab
1, authoritative- reliable, convincing, backed by evidence, showing expertise in an area
2. relevant- important to the matter at hand
3.audience- the intended reader for apiece of writing or listeners/viewers of a speech or performance
4.evidence- information that shows reasoning or proves a judgment/argument
5. identify- recognize and name; state
6. explain- give reasoning and detail; clarify
7. work cited- to supply a list of authoritative texts used as evidence
8. annotate- to mark up; to add notes
9. citation- the acknowledgement of ideas (paraphrased or accurate text quotes) found in outside sources
10. plagiarism- the unacknowledged use of someone elses words or ideas
11. primary source - materials created/written by the people who took part in the events or observed them
12. secondary source - records created after events occurred by people who were not directly involved
